Natural Materials
Plant roots, mushroom mycelium, leaves — materials that grow, decompose, and leave traces entirely on their own terms. I cultivate mycelium in my Amsterdam Noord studio using Reishi, Trametes Versicolor, and various Oyster mushrooms, growing forms through recycled substrates. I press roots and leaves, following the impressions they make.
What draws me to all of it is the same thing: these materials have their own intelligence, their own logic, their own direction. The mycelium builds invisible networks. The leaf finds its way through darkness. The roots holds the memory of its own form. I collaborate with that rather than override it.
The work sits somewhere between cultivation and discovery — sustainable art made with living systems, asking what grows unseen and what it means to work with nature rather than on it.
